It was really well curated and absolutely massive in size, it took us about 3 hours to see everything. The exhibition included Dali’s original paintings, sculputres, films and sketches. The video that I linked to above was part of the exhibition and it’s a short film that Dali collaborated with Walt Disney in 1945. Dali described the plot of the film as “a magical display of the problem of life in the labyrinth of time.” The exhibition only showed a small clip of this film, but I was so intrigued by it I had to see it in full length. I hope you enjoy it as much as I do.

The little black jacket

There is a really cool exhibition going on in the Grand Palais that’s free but it ends today,...

stuck in a time warp in Bruges

If you want to visit the past specifially the Middle Ages go to Bruges. It was really amazing to see the relationship evolve from the constructed Paris in Paramount during the 1900-20s to directors filming in Paris in the 1950s. It showcased different films that portrayed the city and other artifacts such as dresses that Audrey Hepburn wore in Love in the Afternoon while filming in Paris.
The exhibit also displayed a book called A Conference on Clothes, which was published in the first half of the 20th century. It had an amazing message when it comes to fashion and it’s still really relevant today …
“The French women do not hesitate to admit their faults in face or figure, and this frank study of themselves leads them to the adoption of those patterns, fabrics, and adornments which lend distinction, individuality, and their style to their appearance.”
The book goes on to explain that rather than copying everything you see in magazines and dressing through trends, you should take time to reflect on your body-shape and your personality and dress accordingly. I couldn’t agree more.
